Nice Riley

Well, I went to the doctor today for a ob check up. They found the baby's heartbeat fairly quickly. It sounds great. Very fast and strong. Everything else checked out just fine. I had actually lost one pound from being so sick last week. I am really hoping I can keep my weight under control this time.

As for Miss Riley, she has been very challenging the last few days. It starts to head down hill quickly after she wakes up in the morning. She has been demanding to eat candy for breakfast and when I say no she gets really pissed off at me. I usually finish getting myself ready for work and leave her to watch her cartoons or "Riley Movies" as she calls them. When I come back to get her ready and I ususally announce "it's time to get ready for school." She flips out again. Monday morning it took both John and I to get her dressed. Yesterday, was pretty fun too she didn't want to get in the car and pitched a fit in the front yard. Then refused to sit in her car seat all while screaming bloody murder and kicking around like a crazy woman. This continued most of the way to school and I finally said to her, "I miss nice Riley I would like to have nice Riley come back." Her response was classic "It's not time for nice Riley it's time for sad Riley." All of this was screamed back at me through a waterfall of tears. I will be glad when this stage passes and "Nice Riley" comes back on a more regular basis.

Feeling Better

I know I mentioned having a bug last week. Well, it last through out the weekend. It was ugly, but I am back at work and feeling somewhat better. Now I am just the normal pregnant sick instead of sick sick. Unfortunatley, I think I passed my illness on to my mother in law. Oops I hope she feels better soon.

Riley is doing well. She did not have anymore trips to the office last week, and on Friday it was grandparents day at her school. So Nana and Pop Pop got to go with her to school and make crafts and a snack. Riley now sings her "ABCDs" (she always says D too). She does not miss a letter and does really well and its so cute when she gets to H I J KALAY L M N O P. For some reason JK always comes out J KALAY. Needless to say I make her sing them over and over again just so I can hear that part. She also pointed out to me yesterday that there were some W's in her M&M's.

We had friends in town all weekend and unfortunatley I did not see them much because I was either in the bathroom or the bed all weekend. Riley enjoyed having Keri around a lot she pestered her to death. She coudln't even go to the bathroom with out Riley trying to follow her in there. While Jeremy and John focused all of their attention to brewing the perfect beer. Hopefully they will come back again soon so we can have a better visit.

Anyway I think that is all I have for now. I will write more later this week.

John brewed more beer all weekend. He is quite the brew master. He has really gotten into it. The plan is for him to have as many as three beers on tap at all times. He is currently preparing the garage for this. It's a great hobby because it keeps him home with us all the time. So needless to say I like this hobby much better than say....golf.

Uggghh

Ok so I know I have mentioned not feeling well because of the baby, but I think in addition to that I now have a full fledge stomache virus. Things have been coming out of both ends! Therefore, this blog is going to be cut short so I can concentrate on getting better.

Principal's office

Once again my precious Riley was sent to the office yesterday at school. She is really in this phase where she thinks its okay to tell adults no. I hope it is just a testing thing. Anyway she has had to go to the office several times now at school. I think my favorite was the day her teacher told her to go to time out and she responded: "No, why don't you go to time out Ms. Norma!". Needless to say I get a little tense everyday when I go to pick her up because I am always afraid of what she may have done.

I am excited because today right after work I am going to the spa for a massage. John got me a massage for Valentine's day, and I figure I need to cash it in ASAP before I get to damn big to lay on my stomache. Speaking of getting big I think I am going to have to bust out all of my maternity clothes. I had hoped I could prolong it but the pants I have on today are cutting off my circulation and I am sure they are scaring innocent people everywhere.

My mom, and our friends Jeremy and Keri are all coming down this weekend. We are excited but I am going to have to kick it into high gear in order to get our house ready for visitors. I have really let things go since I have been really tired and nasty feeling. We are very excited to report that my mom or Pammy as she is known to Riley will be bringing back Tarheel, our beloved dog. He has been on a much needed vacation in the mountains with my mom and his sister Gretel since Christmas.

Sorry I don't have anything more exciting or pressing today.

My First Blog...

WARNING: Ok, so I am VERY new to the blog scene. Please be patient with me as I try to figure it all out. Also, please note that I did not major in English, so there are going to be fragments, run on sentences, and probably poorly punctuated blog entries. I just want to appologize in advance.

I have finally decided to bite the blog bullet so that I can attempt to better keep in touch with family and friends and help them updated on our daily happenings. Plus, I think this will be a great way for me to look back on the hilarious things my 2 year old daughter says and does on a daily basis as well as the funny things my 30 year old husband does.

For those of you who don't know me or haven't been in touch in a while. John and I are married and living in Myrtle Beach since 2001. I really miss the mountains but the beach is a good trade. We have a two and a half year old daughter Riley Elizabeth Setzer who is the most entertaining and humorous child I could have ever imagined having. We are also expecting baby #2 some time in late August or early September depending on which doctor you ask. :) Riley has requested "a little boy sister". I am really nervous that she is going to hate the baby because her life is so perfect right now being the only child and only grandchild in the state. Hopefully we will all adjust fine.

As for me, I am just ready to be done with my first trimester. Just like with Riley I have been very nauseous. I also have a whole other wide variety of things that happen to my body when I get pregnant that just suck. Unforntunatley, I am not one of "those mom's" that glows radiently during pregnancy. Instead I vomit endlessly, my acne is now worse than its ever been, and GOD help my husband because the mood swings are killer. There are also a wide variety of other symptoms that I will do my best not to devulge on my public blog. Just know that I am counting down the days.

Well, I think that is a good start. I will try to get fancy and add some pictures and cool things from around the web. So keep checking in.
